D-Link's DAP-1360 is a wireless access point in accordance with the IEEE standard 802.11n. By connecting the DAP-1360 to a broadband router, you can share your high-speed internet access wirelessly, and create a secure wireless network to share photos, files, music, videos, printers and network storage.
Linux-based platform
Based on the Realtek RTL8186 chipset, the DAP-1360 can be upgraded with any custom firmware based on the supplied SDK (Software Development Kit). In this way, programmers can use the 2 MB of Flash memory and the 16 MB of SDRAM to include the advanced features they want.
Wireless data protection
The DAP-1360 offers powerful security to protect your wireless network and data. Additionally, it includes MAC address filtering and the «Disable SSID broadcast» function to prevent strangers from accessing your home or office network.
Thanks to the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)TM standard, you can configure wireless security with the touch of a button. There is no need to memorize complicated passwords and keys repeatedly, as the wireless network name (SSID) and encryption keys are automatically generated and transmitted to the client devices.
Versatility for use in different applications
The DAP-1360 can be configured to function as (1) an access point that acts as a central hub for wireless users, (2) an access point client that connects to another access point, (3) a workgroup bridge that links two workgroups wirelessly, (4) an access point workgroup bridge that acts as a wireless hub and bridge at the same time, and (5) a repeater that extends wireless coverage to cover all «deadpoints».
In addition, it supports two WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) modes, which allow a household to share a single wireless Internet connection without additional routers: WISP client router and WISP repeater, which link only to wired computers or to wired and wireless computers, respectively.
Easy to install and use
With D-Link's Click\'n Connect Assistant (DCC), you can set up your wireless network in minutes. This wizard configures how the access point works, makes it easy to add new wireless devices to your network and helps you create a simple wireless network in your home or office.
It has a programming function that allows you to turn off the wireless network when you do not need it, thus saving energy.
